About laboratory

The laboratory is equipped with B&R programmable logic controllers (PLCs), visualization software packages (Control Web 7 and B&R Automation Studio), MATLAB software for modeling and simulation, and physical models of electromechanical systems (including liquid and bulk material storage tank models, an inverted pendulum, an air‑flow control model, an automatic gate model, etc.). This laboratory provides both hardware and software resources required not only for teaching relevant specialized courses, but also for the completion of final theses and semester projects.

Subjects and learning outcomes

Bachelor’s Studies:

  • Industrial Systems Control (functions of the basic components of automated systems, description of continuous dynamic systems, analysis of the properties of closed-loop control systems in the time and frequency domains, design and implementation of basic control circuits for continuous, discrete, and logical electromechanical systems).
  • Fundamentals of Microcomputer Programming (architecture, hardware structure, functions, and applications of microcomputers and related hardware components; basic programming techniques for single-chip processors of the 8051 microcomputer family).
  • Fundamentals of PLC Programming (fundamentals of programmable logic controller programming and their application to selected automation tasks).
  • User Interface Design (general principles of interface design, basic concepts of visual programming and related technologies, development of applications for monitoring and control of technological processes using object-oriented programming in the Control Web 7 environment).

Master’s Studies:

  • Control Systems with Programmable Logic Controllers (development of advanced algorithms in the field of programmable logic controller programming and their application to selected electrical and electromechanical control system tasks).
  • Design of Advanced Robotic Applications (design and simulation of industrial and mobile robots using the ROS (Robot Operating System) robotic framework and verification of their functionality using the Gazebo simulation environment).

Doctoral Studies:

  • Electromechanical Systems (dynamic models of electromechanical systems as a whole and of their individual subsystems; methods and properties of control techniques for both linear and nonlinear electromechanical systems; design of selected electrical machines and their dynamic models; design and characteristics of static power converters related to the doctoral candidate’s research work).
