About Bachelor Study
Study programme: Applied Electrical Engineering
Graduate profile:
The bachelor’s study programme Applied Electrical Engineering emphasizes the combination of theoretical and practical skills. Theoretical knowledge is reinforced by solving computational and simulation assignments. For practical skills, students become familiar with equipment they will encounter in practice. This includes measurements on electrical machines, instruments and drives; electronic measurements on converters for power electronics; work with commercial converters for electric drives and their configuration; design of electrical equipment; programming of logic controllers and control visualization, etc. The teaching also includes excursions to industrial enterprises in Slovakia and abroad, where students can see applications of theoretical knowledge in practice. Thanks to the wide scope of topics covered, their interconnection and practical training, our students are sought by employers for their versatility and system thinking.
In addition to core natural-science disciplines, the graduate acquires knowledge of:
- working with computing technology, programming techniques and software for computer-aided system design,
- control systems and microcomputer-based control,
- mechanics, so that they understand the operation of mechanical subsystems, can describe operating modes and collaborate in teams of specialists from different professions,
- electronics, actuators, sensors and automatic control systems,
- economics, social and legal sciences, which provide knowledge about business, organization and management, and foreign languages.
The graduate is able to:
- design parts of electromechanical systems,
- manage control of electromechanical systems and implement them in industry,
- analyze and solve problems related to the design and servicing of control systems in the automotive industry.
Employment of graduates in practice:
Graduates find employment in various areas of industry — wherever drive and automation systems are used, particularly:
- ensuring the operation of modern electrical systems, mainly continuous production systems in various sectors of the economy,
- enterprises engaged in the construction of machines, instruments and equipment belonging to the class of electrical systems and the manufacture of their components,
- testing, servicing and development of these systems and complexes,
- the automotive industry in the design and servicing of electronic control and dynamic systems of vehicles.
A solid foundation in natural and IT disciplines enables easy and rapid adaptation to employment in related fields. The graduate of the study programme is prepared to continue in master’s studies in the programme Applied Electrical Engineering or in related fields at FEI TU in Košice, or at other technical universities.
