Study programme: Applied Electrical Engineering

Graduate profile:

A graduate of the Engineer’s study programme Applied Electrical Engineering is characterized by having, in addition to a complete second-cycle higher education, knowledge of the principles, function and use of electrical engineering equipment; knowledge focused on the theory of electrical machines, instruments, drives and drive complexes; knowledge of the operation and control of electrical systems and feedback systems; knowledge of artificial intelligence elements; and understanding of the physical processes occurring in materials. The graduate masters and uses computer networks, visualization tools, and information and communication technologies to support production and control processes, and is also familiar with the principles of managing economic systems, entrepreneurship, management and team leadership, and understands the social, moral, ethical and legal contexts of the profession.

Based on the acquired knowledge, the graduate is capable of finding and creating original solutions to problems arising in the research and design of electrical and electromechanical systems and devices, creatively applying acquired knowledge when implementing projects in practice, analyzing proposed alternative solutions, and—with the support of modern mathematical, diagnostic and simulation methods—finding effective solutions.

Graduates of the Applied Electrical Engineering programme are prepared to continue with scientific training at the 3rd (PhD) level in the study programme Industrial Electrical Engineering or to enter professional life at various levels of management and production. Graduates will find employment primarily as creative designers, research and development staff, coordinators and managers of work teams in the design and development of modern electrical and electromechanical systems and also in the management and operation of these systems; additionally in companies engaged in the construction of machines, instruments, equipment and systems belonging to the class of electrical systems and the manufacture of their components; and in testing and servicing of these systems.
