The Department of Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics has been involved in a variety of research and development projects for industry since its establishment. In the past, these activities were primarily carried out for Východoslovenské železiarne (later known as U. S. Steel, now Nippon). Today, the department collaborates on industrial projects for a wide range of companies, particularly in the areas of automation, drive control, electronic circuit design, and firmware development for microcontroller-based systems. Currently, the department offers the following services to industry:
Training in the field of electric drive control
DC drives and AC drives
- Control structures
- Sensors for drive control
Theoretical and practical training for working with SIEMENS S120 industrial control systems
The department is equipped with several training workstations featuring CU320 and SIMOTION control units, line modules (Basic, Active, and Smart Line Modules), single and double motor modules, position sensor interface modules (SMC10, SMC20, SMC30, SMC40), and S7-1200 series programmable logic controllers.
Theoretical and practical training for working with B&R industrial control systems
Training can be conducted on several workstations equipped with X20 control systems, including multifunction input/output modules.
- Panel PC systems and ACOPOS and ACOPOS P3 servo drives are also available.
- Development of control systems for automated production lines
Design of electrical engineering systems (control cabinets, control systems)
EPLAN software
Development of electronic circuits
Autodesk EAGLE, Altium
Firmware development for microcontroller-based systems
AVR, TI C2000, and STM32 microcontrollers
