2nd Level of Study, 1st Year, Summer Semester
The course builds upon the Digital Signal Controllers course and focuses on practical applications of microcontrollers in embedded systems. In this course, students will learn how to use a signal microcontroller to process signals from various types of sensors, communicate with external devices, and design and implement field-oriented control (FOC) of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. Through practical laboratory exercises, students will improve their algorithmic thinking and C programming skills, learn to interpret electrical circuit diagrams, and develop the ability to integrate knowledge from power electronics and semiconductor converters, controlled drives, control theory, programming, and algorithm design. As part of a practical team assignment, students will work on a project for a fictitious industrial customer, where they will develop firmware for existing hardware. During the project, students will learn the fundamentals of project management, including defining intermediate objectives, creating project schedules, assigning tasks, and monitoring adherence to the project plan. Through this assignment, students will also enhance their soft skills, such as teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
